Latium region – Jubilee health care, plan nears conclusion
Implementation of the health plan prepared by the Lazio Region to deal with the Jubilee is proceeding without delay. With 20 days to go before the start of the celebration, the timetable for the closure of works is defined as well as that for personnel and the emergency system. Upgrades to the 12 emergency rooms within the City of Rome will all be completed by Dec. 4, 2015, enabling the activation of an additional 112 emergency and intensive care beds.
HOSPITALS: Friday, Nov. 20, will be handed over to the hospital S. Spirit, on the 24th those from the Polyclinic S. Andrew, on the 26th it will be the S. Eugene and 30 at the S. John. On Dec. 1, on the other hand, those of Grassi in Ostia will be delivered, on the 3rd those of S. Camillo and Policlinico Umberto I, and on the 4th the last two construction sites at the S. Filippo Neri and at Gemelli.
ARES/118 EMERGENCY NETWORK: On Dec. 1, 40 new ambulances and 10 self-medics enter service by takeover of new company following award of contract. Also underway is the tender for the purchase of 86 ambulances configured according to the highest technological standard.
HELIPADS UPGRADING: Adaptation works for the use of the 8 landing pads present on the Ring Road are being carried out by ANAS. As for the Military sites (Cecchignola Barracks for the S. Eugenio, Macao for Policlinico Umberto I and Centocelle) the Ministry of Defense has also authorized the use during night hours. Also identified 20 sortivi fields suitable for 24-hour operation as 118 helipads.
EMERGENCY INFECTIOUS DISEASE AND DIALYSIS PLAN: Operational the Regional Plan for the surveillance and management of infectious emergencies during the Extraordinary Jubilee 2015-2016 infectious prepared by the Region, with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases L. Spallanzani in Rome. Dialysis plan also ready.
ADVANCED MEDICAL POINTS (PMA): Two fixed and operational facilities throughout the Jubilee year will be mounted by Ares near the areas of greatest influx – Castel S. Angelo and S Square. Peter – another 8 mobile PMAs instead will be mounted at special events to reinforce the two fixed stations or at other locations where Jubilee events are held.
STAFF RECRUITMENT: 80% completed the procedures for the recruitment of personnel needed to strengthen the emergency and urgent care staff: a total of 866 people can be committed: 287 permanent and 579 temporary.
COMPETENT VOLUNTEERS: Concluded the “Competent Volunteers” project to recruit 420 volunteers to be used to support ARES during the Jubilee year. They will be employed as support and accompaniment to ARES, during the “event” days scheduled in the Jubilee calendar.
